iPhone restore is a process of reinstall the operating system of the iPhone just like reinstall windows XP or Vista on your computer and it’s the best approach for troubleshooting if you mess up your iPhone.
After iPhone is being restored, all of your iPhone settings will be reset to default or factory settings. Beside that, iPhone data will be formatted or erased completely, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information and any other data. If you don’t wish to lose your iPhone data, you may need to backup your iPhone data and backup Appstore saved games before performing the iPhone restore.
Why do you need to restore your iPhone?
This question is similar to why do you reinstall windows XP or Vista on your computer? There are few reasons including, the performance of your computer is getting slower, installed programs or applications will always stop working most of the time, the operating system starts to crash or freeze, the hard drive is fragmented after you had used it for a few months or you prefer to have a fresh copy of windows XP or Vista.
All of these factors may also apply to your iPhone, whereas you’re experience slow iPhone performance, games or application automatically closed, the iPhone takes longer time to launch an application and etc. In order to solve that, you could try to restore your iPhone.
Why do you need to update your iPhone?
One of the main reasons is to utilize the new features available on the new iPhone firmware version released by Apple. With Apple iPhone specifications and technologies, it should perform more features than other smartphones or PDA phones.
Second reason is to experience a more stable of Apple iPhone by updating the iPhone firmware version. You should update your iPhone to benefit the iPhone capabilities whenever there is an iPhone firmware update available.
The difference between restore and update of iPhone
Apple is always releasing a later version of iPhone firmware from time to time, this is because Apple wish to embedded their new developed iPhone features into the release, fix any error or bug on previous version, improve the stability or performance of the operating system and prevent the iPhone firmware from hacks.
You can update the iPhone firmware through iTunes and by updating your iPhone, your iPhone data won’t be erased and user iPhone settings won’t be reset to default, whereby restoring your iPhone will cause you lost your iPhone data and user settings.
