How to Backup your iPhone Data

There are two methods of doing it. One of them is to sync your iPhone with iTunes and restore it after the iPhone has been restored successfully. Alternatively, you can backup your iPhone data by SSH into your iPhone and make a copy of all the necessary data to your computer, such as contacts, SMSes, notes and calendars. What about my applications, games, videos, photos and songs? You can sync them with iTunes on the iPhone panel. The second method requires you need to jailbreak your iPhone.

Contacts backup:

P/S: You may also want to backup your Appstore saved games while you’re copying the files from your iPhone.

Im sure many of you are like me and one of the first things you do in the morning is head here and check out the new post. Along with seeing the new posts, I’m also always checking out the blog roll rss feed and watching them grow, or shrink sometimes. In one of my past …but all in all excellent site. Keep it up!

Great post!

For SMS backup, what is sms-legacy.db???

One more thing I noticed when restoring these backups, Draft and Parts folder, sms.db and sms-legacy.db I cannot send MMS anymore? The picture seems to just disappear or it just stays at sending… Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Dusty,

When restoring the backup, please logon as username “mobile” instead of “root” and the password is “alpine” also.

Thanks for the reply and will keep that tip in mind.
