when i downgraded my 3g from 4.0 to 3.1.2 i saved all my db files manually using win-scp thinking that i could overwrite the blank .db files once it was wiped clean to get my old data back. i have been trying for days and thought the mobile login was the answer i was looking for. alas, no joy. what happens when i replace the db files for calendar, address book, notes, etc. I reboot the phone and open the app, i get an apple screen with the logo and a progress line under it that goes about 1/3 of the way before the screen disappears and the .db file gets completely wiped and a blank file is generated.
anybody out there know how i can successfully restore my old files?

Ya I figured it out lol I actually used Putty and did the command code to change the ”root” to ”mobile” Working now!

Hi Dusty,

When restoring the backup, please logon as username “mobile” instead of “root” and the password is “alpine” also.

For SMS backup, what is sms-legacy.db???

One more thing I noticed when restoring these backups, Draft and Parts folder, sms.db and sms-legacy.db I cannot send MMS anymore? The picture seems to just disappear or it just stays at sending… Any ideas?
