Do you know that you can connect your computer to the Internet using your iPhone 3G/3GS? With iPhone firmware 3.0, the Internet tethering feature allows you to use your iPhone mobile broadband on your computer.
Internet tethering feature allows the iPhone users to utilize their mobile broadband bandwidth through their PC or laptops when there is no Internet wireless access point. They can check their personal e-mail, online chatting, read their favorite blogs and surf the Internet by plug in their iPhone to laptop. It’s similar to plug in a HSDPA USB modem to the laptop as mobile broadband connections.
How to use Internet tethering feature? You need to switch on Internet tethering feature on your iPhone 3G, just go to Settings, General, Network and Internet Tethering. Next, choose USB mode when prompted, then plug in the USB cable to both iPhone and laptop. Now, launch your web browser and you’ll be connected to the Internet. You can put the iPhone to sleep mode while you are browsing the Internet. Please note that it’s not recommended for the iPhone users that didn’t subscribe to any mobile broadband plan with bundled data as it might very costly for pay-per-use service.
P/S: For Singtel subscribers, you can check your data usage using Singtel Data Usage for iPhone.
